Tyler's Big Al Birthday Party

Although Tyler's birthday is not until October, he had a birthday party with his buddy Jeb on Sunday, September 20th. Big Al even made an appearance! I told Tyler we sent Big Al an invitation, but when Big Al actually walked through the door, the expression on Tyler's face was priceless. Complete joy was spread across his face! He followed Big Al around, played with him on the playground, and gave him numerous hugs. Big Al was wonderful and kept the kids well entertained. We are so thankful for all of our friends and family that helped out with the party and made it a fun time for the kids. It is definitely a birthday party I don't think Tyler will ever forget!

Tyler's Last Year of Preschool

This year marks Tyler's last year of preschool. I can't believe this is his 5th year there and he will start big school next year! He was super excited to start his new class this year, the class he refers to as the "big kid class". In his new class, they participate in many units of study and go on three field trips a month. This past week, his class visited Rickwood Caverns as they learned about caves. Tyler had so much fun and said his favorite part was the big playground and riding on the van with his friends. What about the cave??? Isn't that what was supposed to be his favorite thing? Here are some pictures from his trip.

While the subject is school, I have to share Tyler's first homework assignment for his new class. He was asked to color a picture of a toad. He sat down at his little table with his crayons and started pulling out every color except green. The teacher in me was freaking out, telling him that frogs are green and he needs to color it correctly to show his teacher how good of a colorer he is. I was trying to pump him up because he hates to color and usually just scribbles over the page and is finished. Of course, he was arguing with me and telling me to let him do it. I agreed and went to cook dinner. Imagine my surprise when I saw this...

There is hope for my "all boy" to follow directions in school and complete his work correctly. Yay for Tyler!

Where Have We Been?

That's a good question! I have been a total blog slacker lately. School started back for me on August 7th and, in the process of school starting back, I caught a lovely stomach virus that lasted for seven (yes, seven) days. This past week was the first week all 4 of us have been where we're supposed to be during the day...me and Jason at work and both boys at daycare. Both boys have had the flu-like virus but not the flu, thank goodness. Tyler had a stomach virus and you know if Tyler gets a stomach virus, Jason's not too far behind! Finally, we all seem to be well and are excited about football season.

I plan to update the blog more regularly in the coming weeks. I started last night with a post about my sister's wedding. Hopefully I will be caught up soon. For now, it's off to Tuscaloosa for the first home game of the season. Roll Tide!
