Matthew's 2nd Birthday

Matthew celebrated his 2nd birthday with a dump truck themed party at our house after Tyler's basketball game on Saturday morning. I found the invitation below at this great site and I edited it with a picture of Matthew and our party information. I was so excited to find this free Photoshop document online and am grateful for the photographer who was willing to share her fabulous work!
Several family members and a few friends came over to celebrate with us. Matthew had a fun time at his party. Cake time was probably his favorite. He liked the attention of everyone singing Happy Birthday to him and he knew exactly what to do when it was time to blow out the candle! After cake, Matthew went and got his blanket out of his bed and was ready to take a nap before present time. What a creature of habit! Luckily, we made it through opening presents before nap. Matthew was so excited about all of his new toys. Happy 2nd Birthday, Matt!

Happy Birthday, Matthew!

On February 6, 2008, at 10:56 am, Matthew made his arrival into the world. Originally due on Valentine's Day, Dr. Heath finally agreed after I begged to be induced a week early. After delivering an 8 lb, 9 oz baby, we were all glad he was born a week early. This sweet, lovable little boy has definitely lived up to the Valentine's Day due date. He loves to give hugs and kisses!
If you remember, Matthew was one sick little boy a year ago. After having tubes put in his ears, adenoids taken out, and being diagnosed with a temporary underdeveloped immune system, he has recovered, his immune system has developed, and he has returned to being a happy, healthy little boy.
Matthew is so much fun to be around. He makes the silliest faces and says the craziest things. He loves to sing (his favorite songs at the moment are The Wheels on the Bus and Baby Bumblebee) and he loves to dance. He can often be found dancing in his car seat to any song that comes on the radio. He loves his big brother, although he doesn't always like to share his toys with him!
Matthew still likes to eat and he likes to sleep. His favorite foods are mac and cheese, fruit snacks, bananas, and oranges. He has finally started drinking milk and will usually drink one or two sippy cups full each day. This is a huge change from a year ago! Matthew is a good sleeper, overall. He likes his routine, including nap time and bedtime. He usually sleeps from 7:30 pm until around 6:30 am each day. We could not ask for a better two year old.
I thank God every day for blessing me with my two little boys. I cannot imagine life without either of them. Happy 2nd Birthday Matthew!

One More Birthday Celebration

Tonight was Tyler's family birthday celebration...the final party for this partied out five year old! He was so excited about wearing his new Alabama basketball uniform we gave him for his birthday. As you know, this child is completely obsessed with Alabama and sports thanks to his Daddy. He wanted another football cookie cake but this time he wanted to put his Alabama football men on there. So, after a good washing with soap and hot water, he decorated the cake with his men.

Tyler had a great 5th birthday with two days full of celebrations and way too much sugar. He is enjoying playing with all of his new toys. Thank you to everyone who has made this birthday so special for him. We are very thankful for our wonderful friends and family.

Tyler's 5th Birthday

Tyler had a great birthday. He was super excited to take his special snack to school to share with his friends. We usually make our own cupcakes for his school friends but when we found this pull-apart cupcake football cake, we just couldn't resist! Grandad picked him up early from school and took him to Sonic and the toy store, Tyler's request of course. He enjoyed playing at Grandad and Nana's until Matthew and I got home from school. When Daddy came home, Granna came over to keep Matthew so Tyler, Jason, and I could go out to dinner, just the three of us. We asked Tyler where he wanted to go, expecting to hear Chick-Fil-A or Red Robin, but our child requested Cheesecake Factory! We went there a few weeks ago and let Tyler order a dessert, so for his birthday he wanted another dessert from there. The thing is, his dessert turned in to his dinner. Yep, we let our child have an entire dessert for dinner on his birthday. At the end of our dinner, the waitress brought him another dessert and they sang "Happy Birthday" to him. He loved all of the attention!
With his early Big Al birthday party, I feel like we've celebrated Tyler's birthday for a month now! We have one more family celebration on tap for tomorrow night. This little boy is going to be all birthdayed out!

Happy Birthday, Tyler!

Today, at exactly 1:34 pm, my baby turned 5. How is that possible? I remember the day we found out we were expecting our first baby. After close to nine months of trying to get pregnant, I will never forget the morning I saw the positive pregnancy test. I think I probably took a total of 10 tests the next few days just to confirm that we were actually having a baby! We were so excited. No one can prepare you for the first time you hold a baby of your own in your arms. I will never forget the feeling of seeing Tyler for the first time. God is so good! He has blessed me with more than I deserve. Today that same baby is 5 years old. He is a rambunctious, sweet little boy with a heart of gold. He continues to be an avid Alabama fan and a sports fan in general. He enjoys anything football these days. He plays with his numerous sets of football men and has even built a stadium for them in his room. He throws the football with daddy or plays with his tackle-dummy football man. His new football obsession is coloring football pictures. I print football players and football stadiums from the Internet and he actually sits and colors in the lines. He has a great imagination and will play by himself in his room for hours, usually pretending with his football men and cards. He loves his little brother and is such a good big brother. Although he loves aggravating Matthew, he is very protective of him and will do anything for his baby brother.
I am very thankful for my little boy. He loves to talk and you never know what he is going to say next. While he’s not perfect (just ask his teachers at school about his numerous visits to yellow light), I wouldn’t change anything about him. I am very thankful for my happy, healthy, talkative, rambunctious, loving, caring, tender-hearted, curious little boy! Happy 5th Birthday, Tyler! I can’t wait to see how you learn and grow during your 6th year.

Tyler's Big Al Birthday Party

Although Tyler's birthday is not until October, he had a birthday party with his buddy Jeb on Sunday, September 20th. Big Al even made an appearance! I told Tyler we sent Big Al an invitation, but when Big Al actually walked through the door, the expression on Tyler's face was priceless. Complete joy was spread across his face! He followed Big Al around, played with him on the playground, and gave him numerous hugs. Big Al was wonderful and kept the kids well entertained. We are so thankful for all of our friends and family that helped out with the party and made it a fun time for the kids. It is definitely a birthday party I don't think Tyler will ever forget!

Happy Birthday, Tyler!

Look how our baby has changed and grown up over the past four years. It seems like yesterday we brought him home from the hospital. It's crazy to think that four years ago, Jason and I did not have any children and now we have two boys! God is so good. We are very blessed to have two wonderful little boys. I cannot imagine my life without them. Happy 4th Birthday, Tyler! We love you more than you can ever imagine!
