Growing Up

Matthew is growing up right before our eyes...He is now eating baby food and we've yet to find a food he doesn't like. So far he's eaten squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, peas, pears, applesauce, bananas, prunes, and oatmeal cereal. I have to limit the amount of solids he eats because he won't take his bottles if he eats too much. He drinks four 6-ounce bottles each day and eats solids for breakfast and dinner.
He is also taking baths in the big bathtub now and Tyler loves it! Tyler came in early from playing outside last night because he wanted to take a bath with Matthew. Matthew's not too sure about Tyler splashing around but he does like playing with the bath toys.Matthew continues to be a great baby! He sleeps all night and wakes up talking in the morning. He smiles all the time and is very content. What a blessing both boys are in our lives!

Stephanie the Giraffe

Tyler has had a wonderful summer going to school two days a week. He can't wait to get out the door on school days because of all the fun activities they have planned. Today they had a "Build an Animal" workshop. Tyler chose a giraffe and they have been inseparable this evening. He chose to name his giraffe after his teacher Ms. Stephanie. He told me his giraffe is a boy but it's still named Stephanie. I tried to talk him into Stephen for a boy giraffe but he was having no part of changing its name. He wanted me to make the giraffe a cake tonight for his birthday but we didn't have the ingredients. We settled on Daddy's vanilla cake from Publix. Happy Birthday Stephanie the Giraffe!

Just A Picture

I'm always happy when I finally get a good picture of both boys together so I had to share. Have a great week!

Splash Park Fun

The Splash Park is finally open! We went today and took our friend Morgan. Tyler and Morgan had a great time splashing around for close to two hours while Matthew and I played in the shade. What a nice addition to our community pool!

Do they look alike?

Do they look alike? That's one of the most common questions we get having two boys. Some people say they look a lot alike and some say they don't look alike at all. So, what do you think? Do Tyler and Matthew look alike at five months old?

A Weekend At Home!

After traveling back from the beach last weekend from being gone for an entire week, we spent most of our time at home this weekend. We cooked a few good meals, actually watched two movies (a record for Jason and I these days!) and played outside between rain showers. Tyler loves playing outside after it rains. He rides his bike through the rain water puddles in the street and plays in his newly converted water table. The table was a sand table until a storm blew away the lid for the table, so now it is a water table! While playing in the water table, Tyler found a bug and put it in his bug catcher. Then, he preceded to fill up the bug catcher with water and bits of grass. When I asked what he was doing, he said his bug needed water to drink and grass to eat. I tried to explain that the bug was dead because of all of the water but his 3-year-old mind couldn't comprehend the idea of dead. He said, "Yeah Mommy, it's dead, but it's legs are moving and it needs water to drink." I love his innocence. I wish it would last forever!

Matthew spent the weekend trying to adjust to formula bottles, which he'll only take 3 ounces of no matter what we do, and get into some sort of nap routine. At this age, Tyler was on a set schedule but it's so much different this time around. Matthew kind of lives around Tyler's activities...going to the pool, playing outside, etc...so he lacks a real schedule. He's got to learn to take good naps in the next month before he goes to big boy school (a.k.a daycare) in August! I had to share a picture of Matthew last night in the Baby Bjorn. It was his bedtime but we were outside talking to neighbors so, as you can see, he fell asleep in the Baby Bjorn. (See what I mean about schedules and living around everyone else's schedule?) I always hated to see babies asleep in these carriers because it looks so uncomfortable but he was happy as a lark! I didn't leave him that way for long, I promise!

We had a great weekend. Tyler loves his brother and always wants to play with him. I like this picture of both boys laughing. I can't wait until they can actually play together but I definitely don't want to rush these baby days!

What A Big Boy!

I had to share a picture I took of Matthew today sitting in his My First Anywhere Chair. Thank you Aunt Vicki, Bryan, and Brooke for the chair! He looks like such a big boy sitting in his chair smiling! Here is one more from today of Matthew playing during "Tummy Time"...

Trip to the Braves Game!

Tyler enjoyed our trip to Atlanta to see the Braves play baseball. He liked watching the game and calling the pitches as balls and strikes. I'm sure the people around us enjoyed his umpiring skills as well! Tyler enjoyed the game and spending time with his cousin Natalie!

Vacation From the Perspective of a 3-year-old

As you can see we had a great time at the beach but I have to say there's no place like home! Being away from home with two children for an entire week is tiring!!! What happened to those relaxing beach trips we used to take??? I wanted to share a few things Tyler said during vacation and about vacation that I don't want to forget!

When we arrived to the condo: "This isn't our beach. Our beach has a big fountain in the pool and a little white fence. This is Grandad's beach!" He thought we were going to the same condo as last year. How in the world does he remember the white fence at the condo last year and why does he think Gulf Shores is Grandad's beach???

After going in the ocean: "I need to go to the shower and wash this salt and pepper off of me." No matter how many times we told him it was just salt in the water, he insisted it was salt and pepper water!

The day before leaving to come home: "I'm going to pitch a fit tomorrow. I don't want to go home." It's always nice when they give you warnings when they're going to pitch a fit. Surprisingly, he didn't pitch a fit before going home!

On coming back to the beach: "Grandad's going to bring me back to this beach next week." I have no idea where that one came from. At the end of the week, he still thinks Gulf Shores is Grandad's beach!

Tyler Finally Goes in the Ocean!

I'm up in the room for nap time so I thought I'd do a little blogging. This is our fifth full day at the beach and Tyler has finally decided to venture into the ocean. He had to wait until his cousins arrived! He is having so much fun. Daddy decided to let him skip his nap today to go play some more. They blew up his boat and are riding the waves as I type. Here's a picture of Tyler, Natalie, Payton, and Kelsey from this morning.
And here's Matthew swinging away under his tent on the beach. Thank you Mimi for letting us borrow the swing. He loves it!

Tyler's First Putt-Putt Game!

We went to The Track last night and Tyler played his first round of golf. It was putt-putt, of course, but he was so excited to play "Tiger Woods Golf" as he called it! He played with Daddy, Pop-Pop, and Uncle T. He had so much fun and is already asking to go play again. While Tyler played golf, Matthew hung out with Granna and rode in his stroller. Have I mentioned how good of a baby he is??? We didn't get back to the condo until after 10:00 and he didn't mind at all. He slept in his stroller while Tyler finished playing putt-putt and riding other rides at the Track and then he came back to the room and went straight to sleep. He never even fussed! How did we get so lucky? He is so easy going and easy to please! Here are some pictures of the boys from our excursion last night...

Please don't tell Tyler there is a putt-putt course right by our house. We'll never make it home again without him asking to go play. He loved it!
